Yes, it's a grand catastrophe that Apple spent a bazillion quatloos
to build a whole new facility to support their new iCloud service.
The OP's difficulty was with Apple's mail service. As Kris pointed
out - the mail service works just fine, the OP simply need to update
their settings.
What's the big deal?
