Well, WMV is not a 'format'. Like a Quicktime file, it's a 'container' format that holds multimedia of a variety of codecs. So long as 10.8 doesn't break Perian, (or incorporates it's bits!) I think I'll be happy. If someone steps up and fixes it for 10.8, I'll also be happy. It's not just playback...Perian opens up all those formats to anything that uses the QT libraries at all. So any, say 3d design program that allows a QT movie to be imported for a background, can use any format supported by quicktime automagically, or export any format supported by quicktime.
