I'm rehabbing this 2004 model (Dual G5 1.8, 2GB ram, 250GB HD) which does not have a dual layer dvd drive. I've installed Tiger 4.11, and it is stable and fast. I've tried putting the Leopard dvd onto my external HD in it's own partition, (had outside help with this) but it won't install. I've made a disk image from this drive, and that gets me to "Restart" in the Leopard installer, but it won't boot- just blue screen. Selecting the HD partition as the boot drive via firewire results in the cooling fans redlining! Do I really have to get an external dual-layer dvd drive, and would this even work? Thank you.
