 OS 9.2.2 is the latest and most stable version. If you only want OS 9 then 
initialize the drive with the installer disc. Then just install, no special 
actions needed.
If you have OS9 on another machine then all you need to do is copy the 
Application and System folder and drag them to the Cube drive via Firewire 
ports using "Target Disk Mode". However it lives very nicely on the Tiger 
volume.
