Great. You need to describe what you've done more accurately. You said, "I switch between displays with a G4 and it works." which implies you tested the G5's display on the G4, not the G5's video card.
If the G5 video card which works in the G4 won't work in the G5 you've got a problem on the G5 motherboard or perhaps power supply?
