Only the last G5 Dual-Core systems “Late 2005” can use DDR2-ECC memory (dual channel, i.e. in pairs). All G4s and G3s are strictly non-ECC. > Usually, PowerMacs are compatible with faster Ram sticks (I had a PC133 on > my PC66 Beige G3), but this is not always true. Also, high-density chips > can cause issues. > You can easily find cheap PC133 Ram sticks from old, dismissed PCs. Watch out for those high density modules! It is very often unclear and hard to identify if a memory module (“DIMM”) is low density or high density! This often posed a problem for me salvaging DIMMs from old PCs, which later turned out to be high density or PC100 instead of PC133 and so on. For a G3 B&W you can always use PC100 or PC133 DIMMs, because PC133 is 100% backward compatible to PC100 (but not to PC66, used in Beige G3s).
