If you're set on using newer equipment (i.e., already have it) then you're probably out of luck. But, they've been making music for a very long time--you could probably find old equipment of a similar vintage to your G4 for more reasonable prices. Don't know enough about the equipment to say if it would be cheaper than buying a new workstation, however.
