Morgan, What happens when you disable the Realtek embedded Ethernet controller in the BIOS? Is the embedded sound card enabled or disabled? What about other devices that use IRQ's that can be disabled in the BIOS such as COM, LPT, USB ports?

It is a great product. While we have used g4u successfully on a wide variety of desktop systems, I am having trouble with getting g4u to boot on a Panasonic Toughbook CF-72 ruggedized laptop system. We are using the current g4u version 2.1. I tried both CD-ROM and floppy versions with the same result. I also tried g4u version 1.17 and received the same result. The laptop has an integrated Realtek ethernet device. From the messages displayed during boot, g4u appears to detect this OK. It also has a PC Card wireless card, in this case a 3Com product. I receive the same result whether the wireless card was in, or removed. Here are the last several lines displayed on the screen. This was transcribed by hand, so I apologize for any typos. ----- piixide0: secondary channel wired to compatibility mode piixide0: secondary channel interrupring at irq 15 atabus1 at piixide0 channel 1 vendor 0x8086 product 0x2483 (SMBus serial bus revision 0x01) at pci0 dev 31 function 3 not configured vendor 0x8086 product 0x2485 (audio multimedia revision 0x01) at pci0 dev 31 function 5 not configured isa0 at pcib0 [system halts at this point] ----- If there is a way to save this information to a file, please advise me on how this could be done. I would be happy to provide the entire dmesg if this would be useful, but it's impractical to transcribe it all by hand :) Thanks for any advice you can provide. mtoal ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc.
