The floppy images shouldn't make a difference.
For the dead keyboard, I've seen this reported repeatedly on this list,
and IIRC it was with USB keyboards and went away after
* plugging in the keyboard into some other USB connector, or
* frobbing the BIOS WRT USB/keyboard related settings.
