I've had the same issues with IBM(Lenovo, now) hardware also.  Had to find a workaround.  As I remember it, it wasn't a problem with g4u persay, but with the netBSD kernel it runs.  There were plenty of other people out there with problems with netBSD on the machines (one model of thinkpad, and one model of netvista).  Noone that I could see had committed any changes to fix the problem, though.  Had to make do with Knoppix.

I agree, G4U is a wonderful product.
