Serious, I'm more and more under the impression that the point with those 
hangs is ACPI - while some machines need it to work, others don't like it. 
I'm thinking about splitting g4u into a version that has ACPI and one that 
doesn't (and some others :), but that's some way down the pipe.

I'm afraid I have on immediate help for you
(other than the usual: send me the hardware and I'll have a closer look).
