Greetings from a noob, Hubert

I would like to thank you for your efforts on your g4u
project. I would thank you even more (ie financially)
if I could get it to work! Alas, after some DAYS of
my own effort, I am still unable to do so. So before
scrapping that investment of my (wasted) time I
thought I'd give this list a shot.

Before I bother you with the details of my
non-operation I will, now that I've subscribed to this
mailing list, search for clues in the archives.
Perhaps I should say: before I bother ME with all the
TYPING it would require -- which brings me to this:

The list of pertinent details that you mention for
inclusion in req's for help represents a lengthy bunch
of data collection and typing in order to include. I
would think that much of that could be captured and
saved, almost automatically, if a writeable location
(like a USB flash drive or such) were accessible.
Perhaps I'm missing something obvious, but I've not
been able to manage that, either. I'd love to be able
to redirect/capture dmesg and ifconfig output, for
instance.

Perhaps that issue is also discussed in the archives
-- I don't know. If so, I apologize. I'd like to try
to manage this on my own (you know, I'm one of those
guys that wouldn't THINK of stopping to ask for
directions!) but, as I mentioned, I'm about to the end
of my rope here. This was supposed to _solve_ an
issue for me, not add substantially to my existing
list of time-consuming chores!

'Nuf said. Thanks again.

Regards,

Jay
