Gang,

the 2.3 beta 3 doesn't get much further.

I get the earlier hang, or this new one.

ukphy0 at wm0 phy 0: Generic IEEE 802.3u media interface
ukphy0: OUI 0x606363, model 0x0021, rev. 10
ukphy0: 10baseT-FDX
ukphy1 at wm0 phy 1: Generic IEEE 802.3u media interface
ukphy1: OUI 0xa0a020, model 0x0031, rev. 3

I've seen these messages increment all the way up to 'ukphy12' when I was booting the Alpha 6 yesterday.

Someone on the list pointed me to the g4l project, and I DL'ed and tried it, but it won't recognize the SATA drive. I'm a little new to tinkering with the Linux 2.6 kernels.

What stumps me is that my Slackware Linux 11.0 boot DVD will recognize the SATA drive with either the 2.4.33.3 or the 2.6.18 kernels. It shows up as /dev/sda (why SCSI)?

As Hubert asks, here's the last 5 lines of the dmesg:

Hubert also asks you to state the g4u version you used, as there may be a newer one somewhere. ;)

For the time being: I've put up g4u 2.3beta3, can you please try and tell me if this works better: http://www.feyrer.de/g4u/g4u-2.3beta3.iso.zip (etc.)?

(To the observing public asking what happened with beta 1 & 2: they were never released; neither have i found time to announce this one... doh!)
