If you read the documentation for g4u, you cannot copy from a large disk
to a smaller-sized target disk and expect it to work. E.g. a 40 Gb
source to a 20 Gb target for copydisk.

You can copy from a small source disk to a larger one and I've done that
a few times. It works just fine. I can then resize the partitions with
gparted.

I have not yet tried copying from a source to the target where both
disks are the same size.

It helps a lot to read the documentation as your first troubleshooting step.
