Hi,
I've done my first automatic slurp (ie no user input after booting, you
could call it command line passing) today from my established pxe boot
setup. Also got my g4u rebuild times down to under 20 minutes. Hubert
has thoughtfully provided a pair of lines in the build file to control
fresh/update builds - just # out the one you don't want. When I feel the
script is robust I'll let Hubert have it. As I've not altered the
crucial g4u dd script I don't expect a problem, but it's best to be safe.
If you want to duplicate command line passing yourself before then you need:
1. new user options in your server's dhcpd.conf (see the dhcpd man pages
for this) for the command line or parameters you want to pass. I set up
user/ip etc individually to make it easier to edit later, but you could
pass a whole command line too
2. set up a dhclient.conf with a 'request' for the new options and
ensure it gets into the build by adding to 'list'
3. make a script (Hubert has included sed for his commands) to parse the
dhclient.conf on bootup and pass the parameters to the ftp/dd script of
slurp and add that to the build too
4. if you want it to run on boot put your new command into the
dot.profile at the end - it's obvious where the exit point is if you
read through it
5. unpack your new.iso and put the netbsd into your pxe boot area
(saving the genuine g4u netbsd in case you need it!)
6. watch the remote units clone themselves...
