Based on responses to my earlier question about cloning my 359 Gb drive to a
smaller 120 Gb drive because only 62 Gb of the 400 Gb drive was in use, I went
out and bought a Western Digital "MyBook Premium ES Edition" 500 GB external
hard drive. This model has a dual interface: one can use eSATA (external SATA)
or USB. In this post I'd like to report some strange messages I'm getting from
g4u.

I couldn't get my SATA cable to plug into the eSATA connector on the MyBook
hard drive, so I am using the USB cable instead.

Upon booting g4u and running the disks command, I got the following
messages...edited only for brevity:

wd0 at atabus4 drive 0 <WDC WD4000KD-00NAB0>
sd0(umass 0:0:0:0): check condition on CDB: 0x00 00 00 00 00 00

[above message repeated a few times]
[at this point, I turned off power to the MyBook drive]

sd0: drive offline
sd0: detached

[at this point, I turned on power to the MyBook drive]

sd0: fabricating a geometry
sd0: 465 Gb, 476940cyl, 64 head, 32 sec, 512 bytes/sect x 976773168 sectors
g4u> copydisk wd0 sd0
     0 0.00 KB/s sd0: fabricating a geometry
     78167 MB 20.14 MB/s
     [above message is updated constantly]

Does g4u have any known problem with the MyBook external hard drives from
Western Digital? Why is it apparently having difficulty recognizing the MyBook
drive? Perhaps it is the size of the drive?

Based on the above messages is g4u cloning wd0 to sd0 normally?

Thanks
