Please try g4u 2.3 or 2.4alpha1, just in case. Not that I think this matters for that error. According to RFC 959, error code 501 is "Syntax error in parameters or arguments." Slurpdisk uses ftp(1)'s URL syntax, so I cannot tell the exact FTP-level command that's being used either - can you try running Wireshark/Ethereal/tcpdump, and see what happens?
