I've tried it both in Linux (Debian testing) and Windows XP. It used work in beta 3. The persons I've tried it against are running both Gaim and official Yahoo client. It'd seem that the receiver of the request replies with their main profile's ID, not necessarily the one you've sent the request too. Without digging around the code, I'd say this is causing major breakage for people whose profile ID is different to the known contact.
