Summary: SIMPLE NTLM passwords not acceptable by LCS

Initial Comment:
I'm running gaim (svn less than an hour ago) under FC5.

When I try to enable my SIMPLE account (LCS server), gaim
works out via SRV DNS records/etc where the server is,
but fails to authenticate correctly via NTLM.

Ethereal shows me gaim is trying it's darndness to get
it right, but the LCS server comes back with a 400
and gaim reports "Wrong password".

I'm happy to send tcpdumps if anyone's interested. I'd
love to get SIMPLE working with LCS as our company
has standardized on LCS, and I'm a Linux user :-(

Just tried 2.0.0 beta 6 and I also get the "Incorrect password" popup when
set for port 5060. Port 5061 just hangs for me when I send the password,
although one of my coworkers is using Trillian Pro and port 5061, and it
works for him, so this must be possible somehow...

Thanks,

Charles

More information.

A sniffer confirms our LCS server is accepting NTLM.

I can see it sending "WWW-Authenticate: NTLM opaque..." 401
errors to everthing gaim throws at it. I can see gaim sending
"WWW-Authenticate: NTLM qop=auth" packets - which I guess
means gaim is basically doing the right thing to?

I have checked out the status of our LCS server - it is set
to NTLM only. Other options are "Kerberos" and "Kerberos or
NTLM".

Any ideas what else I can look at?

Assuming that the NTLM stuff is correct (this may or may not
be the case), your server must be set up to require kerberos
authentication.
