Summary: Jabber buddy adding results in multiple contacts

Initial Comment:
Note: I just started using Jabber since I've gone to
2.0.0b4, so I can't say that the following issue is
only present on that software.

When I add a buddy in Jabber, the buddy is immediately
added to my contact list. When the buddy OKs the
buddy-add, I get another buddy added to my contact list.
It can also happen in the reverse direction, where the
added buddy gets 2 entries instead.

The entries remain separate even with a Gaim restart.
The entries only get cleaned up if I move the entries
into a different group, and then move the duplicate
entries into that group as well.

Ok, it seems I can't attach a file or otherwise change a bug that wasn't
created by me. Silly. Is it possible to increase my permissions or should I
create a new bug? I can send the log by e-mail, if it's simpler.

Thanks for looking at this Etan. This bug is hard to reproduce, maybe it
has something to do with the *other* Jabber client. Here is the info:

I'm not running Wildfire. I've seen this bug on the GTalk server and at a
Jabberd2 (2.0-0.s11.11.fc6) that I run.

I wasn't able to recreate the problem with 2 instances of Gaim, but
managed to reproduce it with a Gaim and a Gizmo client. I'm attaching the
Debug Window output of my side of the transaction.

For me, it appears that when I ask another user to see his presence, he is
added to my roster. Later, when he authorizes me, Gaim asks me for my
authorization. After granting his authorization Gaim asks me if I want to
include him in my roster (even though I was the one invinting in the first
place), if I click Add I get a duplicated contact.

The stranger part is that it doesn't seem happen all the time. Sometimes
Gaim never asks the second question.

This problem seems to almost exclusively occur with the Wildfire jabber
server and almost always involves the buddy being added being in a Shared
Roster Group of some kind. Is that the case here? Can you both get the
Debug Window output of signing on to the server (specifically the sending
of the roster from the server)? If you think you can recreate this
situation then the Debug Window output of both sides of the
add->accept->add->accept loop would also be very useful.

I'm seeing this problem, and I know someone else who also does. We are
both using Gaim 2.0.0 beta5 as packaged in Fedora 6. I've observed this
behavior in my GTalk account. I don't know the server they use. How can I
see the debug window?

Can you please reopen this?
