Category: wrong Group: 2.0.0 beta 3 >Status: Closed Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Khem Raj (khemraj) Assigned to: Ethan Blanton (eblanton) Summary: nick does not change in the user list Initial Comment: I will try to explain how to reproduce this. Log in into a IRC channel and enter a room say #room. Say with your nickname "foo" now your name appear in the userlist in the #room now change your nick using /nick foo_bar on message window Though the nick is changed the userlist still shows your old nickname. It use to work ok in 1.5 I use this usually to show my current status. I change my nickname so that users can see what I am doing. On that note it will be nice to have something like that in gaim where a status is displayed below the nickname. In that case we dont have to keep changing the nick or away messages to reflect the status ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Khem Raj (khemraj) Date: 2007-02-16 00:00 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=491488 Originator: YES yes I had an alias set. When I removed the alias it worked as expected. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Ethan Blanton (eblanton) Date: 2006-12-22 06:42 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=298616 Originator: NO On Linux, in 2.0.0 beta 5, with *no alias set*, you still have this problem? (I don't think you do.) Ethan ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Khem Raj (khemraj) Date: 2006-12-21 21:00 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=491488 Originator: YES Hmmm OK if the behavior is changed thats fine. However the 1.5 behaviour still works on windows for 2.0.0 beta5 but on linux it shows the problem. So I would expect it to work same way on both platforms. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Ethan Blanton (eblanton) Date: 2006-12-21 17:46 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=298616 Originator: NO khemraj, let me know if this is not your problem. Ethan ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: MrMagooAZ (mrmagooaz) Date: 2006-12-21 17:44 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1046342 Originator: NO The behavior you describe does work in 2.0 Beta 5. I'm not sure why it works different in 1.5.x. Thanks for your help. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Ethan Blanton (eblanton) Date: 2006-12-21 16:09 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=298616 Originator: NO Then 1.5.x was broken. Just unset the alias, and you should see the behavior you want. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: MrMagooAZ (mrmagooaz) Date: 2006-12-21 16:01 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1046342 Originator: NO As was stated in the original post, it didn't work this way in 1.5.0. If I changed my Nick, my name changed in the Users list and on screen. I liked the way it worked in 1.5.0 for many of the reasons stated in the original post. In my opinion it should work that way again. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Ethan Blanton (eblanton) Date: 2006-12-21 13:08 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=298616 Originator: NO You probably have an alias set for your IRC account. If this is the case, Gaim will *always* show your local nickname as that alias, regardless of what your server nick is.
