Summary: Crashes on some emoticons
Initial Comment:
Gaim segfaults when a buddy sends some user-defined emoticons,
maybe a gif-file is being attached to those (gaim also crashes in the end
of a file transfer). I think this bug is related to the file-receive-crash, as
I
think the msn-client in the other end sends the emoticons as gif or jpeg
files.

it's gaim 2.0.0+beta3.1-1ubuntu9 on ubuntu edgy eft.
The client that sent the icon is msn messenger live, version
undetermined.
I was able to reproduce it many times, every time it works.

I've suffered the same problem with this, which makes me
crazy. :|
Gaim dies immediately when my buddy sends me the message
including user-defined emoticons.

My version 1.1.2 from tar.gz, only with the patches necessary for FreeBSD
compilation (FreeBSD-ports). The client in the other end was Microsoft MSN
7.0 Beta, and it was a custom emoticon.

This isn't a custom emoticon you're receiving, or if it is
the person who's sending it to you is using a buggy 3rd
party client. Can you find out what client they are using?

The crashing component of this has been fixed in CVS. Gaim
1.1.2 doesn't have support for MSN custom emoticons - are
you using a patched version?
