Some other part of the gaim -d output should tell you the GTK+ version, that
line isn't it. And you can't attach screenshots here, so either put them up on
some webspace you have, use a image hosting site (not recommended) or open a
bug report and attach it there. If you open a bug report make sure you indicate
that the report is just a tracking report for this thread, otherwise it might
get closed by someone.

A preference for how to display preferences... that is crazy.

Oh..It would be nice to have a preference of how "Preferences" are
displayed. Tabbed or in a Tree :)

You're talking about the old preference window that is in 1.5.0 and older
versions.

Well...I've seen screenshots of "Preferences" with explorer-style
tree-view. I personally like it better. This made me think that this was
available in a later version.

I should have phrased that better... why do you *think* that is the "older
version..."?

Why is that "the older version of "Preferences" UI window" in the
screenshot?

You'll notice that there is an option in the "Buddy List Options" plugin
to hide your menu.

help->about tells me that i am running 2.0.0beta6. And I am running GTK+
2.10.8 and Glib 2.12.9. However, I am getting the older version of
"Preferences" UI window. Please see the attachment.

I disabled "Buddy List Options 1.0 beta6" plug-in. And I got my menu back!
