Category: None Group: 2.0.0 beta 6 Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: maynoth (maynoth) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Yahoo Disconnects When First Attempting To Message A Contact Initial Comment: Gaim 2.0 Beta6 (windows 2000 and Ubuntu 6.10) works fine except when you try to message a contact on yahoo it disconnects and you manually have to reconnect... It is usually fine after that until a period of inactivity in which the process occurs again... I have confirmed this on linux and windows ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Ethan Blanton (eblanton) Date: 2007-03-17 10:56 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=298616 Originator: NO There is absolutely no need to bring this up in IRC every few days with no new information. This has always looked like, and still looks like, a bogus middlebox problem to me. Notice that most replies from the Yahoo! server take in the neighborhood of 150ms to complete, while the fin comes back in only 54ms. Try a 'ping 215.155.193.143' from your prompt, and see if the response is closer to 150ms than 50ms -- I bet it is. Something *between* you and the Yahoo! server is disconnecting you. There is nothing we can do about that. Bug 1663598 is unrelated. Looks like the YMSG packet gets a FIN,ACK returned instead of just an ACK, causing the connection to be killed. Something worth looking into perhaps, even though I can't reproduce it at all. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: maynoth (maynoth) Date: 2007-03-05 09:33 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1328676 Originator: YES File Added: capture.txt ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: maynoth (maynoth) Date: 2007-03-04 20:36 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1328676 Originator: YES I am working on packet dumps... using wireshark soon ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: maynoth (maynoth) Date: 2007-03-04 20:24 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1328676 Originator: YES http://pastebin.com/893656 pastebin of log during a random disconnect after a message is received after prolonged inactivity ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: maynoth (maynoth) Date: 2007-03-01 19:47 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1328676 Originator: YES [ 1663598 ] Yahoo messages cause crash seems to be same issue ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=100235&aid=1672111&group_id=235 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys.
