I am using AIM/ICQ and although I'm using the latest version of GAIM, I noticed it happening a few upgrades ago. I haven't noted a pattern of who can and who can't see me typing, but I don't think it has anything to do with what program my buddies are using. I even went as far as to delete the xml that holds all my preferences, and recreate it, but that hasn't worked either.
