The reason for this, I'd like to know if someone messaged me while playing music. I use DirectSound for my media player. DirectSound supports multiple streams, WaveOut, which the Win32 build of Gaim uses, does not. I do have a small Win32 program that can play wavs through DirectSound. I even use it for X-Chat. It's just that alot of Win32 IM clients don't really take this into account for event sounds.
