Please note that this message will contain a full copy of the comment thread, including the initial issue submission, for this request, not just the latest update. Category: win32 Group: None >Status: Closed Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: jhwong (jhwong) Assigned to: Daniel Atallah (datallah) Summary: Minimize IM windows to system tray icon Initial Comment: It would be a useful feature to be able to handle IM windows like the buddy list - clicking X can minimize it to the system tray and remove it from the taskbar. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Luke Schierer (lschiere) Date: 2007-04-20 11:00 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=28833 Originator: NO As we are closing this tracker, please submit any feature request that is still valid to http://developer.pidgin.im. Thanks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Wayne (waynewoods) Date: 2006-05-11 03:38 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1461925 Sorry, forget my last comment. When I first tried to double-click on the system tray icon, nothing happened. But I've now discovered that it does indeed pop up the buddies window. Occasionally I seem to click on part of the image that doesn't register as the icon (transparent, perhaps?), and that must be what fooled me before. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Wayne (waynewoods) Date: 2006-05-01 03:16 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1461925 I assume the converse of this is that if you click on the system tray icon, it'll automaticlly pop up your buddies window again? If so, this is exactly what I'm hoping for. I just switched from using Trillian (Basic) today, and so far that's the only feature I miss. For reasons of discretion (at work ;) ), I like to keep the buddy window hidden/gone, but it's nice to be able to bring it up again quickly just by clicking once on the system tray icon, rather than right click on the icon and then scroll up the menu to the buddy list at the top. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: MJPZero (mjpzero) Date: 2005-12-19 21:23 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1408857 I think this is a must have feature, it's what is keeping me from using GAIM instead of AIM. On AIM, when you are away, you can HIDE IM windows... I've been waiting for GAIM to add this for along time, why hasn't this been added yet? If it was available, I'd switch right now :( ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Daniel Beardsmore (uilleann) Date: 2004-10-21 18:20 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=473078 Or have the buddy list itself be a permanent, first tab? That way I don't have to have it consuming screen space when not looking at it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: apachedude (apachedude) Date: 2004-08-22 04:30 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1102426 The buddy list and conversations into one window would be very elegant. The buddy list would be off to either side, with the conversations filling up the rest of the window. So the buddy list and one of the conversations is always displayed, and the active conversation can be changed through tabs. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Dan Burd (nelson1379) Date: 2004-08-19 11:07 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=718388 Just make the buddy list and the conversation window into one window. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: apachedude (apachedude) Date: 2004-08-17 02:06 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1102426 Concur. This would reduce clutter in the system tray. Other suggestions include mapping the minimize to system tray to a keyboard shortcut or automatically minimizing all IM windows when away. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=350235&aid=1008138&group_id=235 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by DB2 Express Download DB2 Express C - the FREE version of DB2 express and take control of your XML.
