If you mean can you use your 'remote' copy of gaim to check the external IP address of the 'local' copy of gaim that is running at home then sometimes, sort-of. Any direct connection between you and your computer at home will require the home external IP be made known to your remote computer, however gaim is unlikely to display this information anywhere (other than perhaps in the Debug Window.) So attempt to start a Direct Connection, or a File Transfer (on some of the protocols) and have your wife accept it.
