This is not a Gaim bug, but a bug in GTK+, the widget toolkit
used by Gaim. Your bug is being moved to our "gtk bugs" tracker,
where it will be grouped with similar bugs. When we know a gtk
bug number for this issue, your group number will reflect it.

This is a commonly reported GTK+ bug.

I dont have a linux build but im currently running the
1.5.0 of the win32 port.

This is a tricky little annoyance to produce but has
been a bothersome thing for a while (and possibly the
only thing thats been bugging with gaim since ive
started using it)

# Open up your buddies list, it has to contain some

# Position it aprox. center on your screen.

# Hover your mouse over a buddie, a little text info
box will appear with your buddies info etc.

# While that box is active. Double click on your buddie
so the chat window opens over the buddies list.

# The info box will dissapear for a brief moment but
appear again within the buddie chat window.

# Move your mouse into a background program(not the
buddy list) or alt + tab into that background program.

# What will happen is the buddie text info box will
stay active until you open up the buddy window again
and mouse into it, resetting the info box.

I still see this problem in 2.0.0-beta3.

This is an extremely annoying bug, and can be reproduced
by many windows users at my office.

To reproduce:
1. Have the buddy list open.
2. In a gliding movement move the mouse over one over the
buddies and then continue to move it somewhere else on the
3. After .5 secs delay the buddy status appears wherever
the mouse cursor ended. (the delay is the same as the
standard tool tip delay)

It seems that the fix would be to cancel the tool tip
display if the mouse has moved away from the buddy.

Sometimes it takes a couple tries to reproduce
