Summary: Chat window placement issue

Initial Comment:
When receiveing or starting chats the chat window opens
up in the absolute upper-left-hand corner of the
screen. Since I have my start-menu on the TOP of my
screen, this means that the top of the chat window is
obsured, preventing me from accessing the close,
minimise or maximize buttons, or from moving the
window. I can move the window by right-clicking on the
taskbar entry for the chat, and choosing move, then
using the arrow keys to re-position the window, but
obviously this is not an ideal situation.

Somehow GTK (?) needs to be told to look out for the
location of the taskbar and re-position accordingly.
This I think would be the ideal fix. However a short
term fix might be just to tell it to open new windows
not in the absolute upper-left-hand corner.

Sorry I can't help you work on this, but I don't know
programming. However I can say that I love your work!
Great chat client guys!

Daniel, This works perfectly. Thank you.

And if I had looked in the GTK section I would have found
the fix without bothering to create a new bug listing! Shows
you how much I know.

I created a plugin that acts as a workaround to this GTK bug.
It is posted in the Plugins Tracker:

This is not a Gaim bug, but a bug in GTK+, the widget toolkit
used by Gaim. Your bug is being moved to our "gtk bugs" tracker,
where it will be grouped with similar bugs. When we know a gtk
bug number for this issue, your group number will reflect it.
