Summary: New Window Position on Multiple Monitors

Initial Comment:
By default new GAIM message windows seem to open up
at the top of my monitor. I have two monitors, and
when it opens up the window it is currently placing
it on the second monitor, but in line with the top of
the first monitor. The problem is the first montior
is much higher than the second, so about 80% of the
window is off screen.

Further, GAIM doesn't seem to remember message window
positions after they are closed (which would "fix"
this problem).

There should probably be some sort of check to make
sure the GAIM window opened is actually visible.

This is not a Gaim bug, but a bug in GTK+, the widget toolkit
used by Gaim. Your bug is being moved to our "gtk bugs" tracker,
where it will be grouped with similar bugs. When we know a gtk
bug number for this issue, your group number will reflect it.

There is a plugin in the plugins tracker that works around this.

I also have the problem with Beta3. In my case, Monitor1 is
to the right, and Monitor2 is to the left, with the bottom
edges aligned and the tops staggered (1 has more resolution
than 2). It very inconvenient to that the top of the window
off the screen. I can see commands a message:
util: Writing file prefs.xml to directory C:\Documents and
Settings\Craig\Application Data\.gaim

but it doesn't seem to record the position properly.

Adding another person with this problem (since V2), dual
monitors, with one on top of the other, so the messagewindow
appears topleft on second monitor (which is very rarely
turned on), this makes gaim as good as useless for me, since
i always have to turn on the second monitor (problem didn't
exist in 1.5)
VERY ANNOYING GUYS ! (win version of gaim btw)

This problem manifests in beta3 too.

I also have this problem (dual monitors aswell). My Windows
taskbar is on the far left of my left monitor.

The gaim message window always opens at the top left of the
screen. So it appears as half hidden behind my taskbar.

Again, if gaim 'remembered' last Window position it would
fix this.

I also have my IM windows by default appear in the upper
left corner of my secondary monitor. I think there should
be a setting to remember window positions or to specify, at
least, the default monitor (and even default corner of that
monitor) for new IM's.
