Responsibilities
Under the supervision of WEEA chairperson and the international backstopper,
the Project Manager will perform institutional reinforcement tasks related
to
WEEA strategic objectives and plan.

Supervise WEEA activities and assist all WEEA workers in all operations
related to implementation
Support and coach each WEEA unit: all aspects
Support and coach each regional coordinator in management and other related
field
Supervise and assist in developing business plans/work plan of each unit and
each worker
Supervise the implementation, the monitoring and evaluating processes
Supervise and support the work of the administrative support staff
Prepare and give small workshops/seminars for on going education for WEEA
staff
Coordinate the plans as to achieve the WEEA objectives
Participate in the selection of WEEA staff , international and national
consultants
Coordinate with related units the participation of the international and
national consultants and ensure positive missions
Supervise transactions related  to the human , material and financial
resources
Regular reporting to WEEA, the sub committees , the donor and the
backstopper
Coordinate other relevant projects
Support WEEA in its development
Ensure  follow up on the implementation of  backstopper recommendations

Qualifications
The Project Manager must have the following qualifications and experiences
University level of education in social sciences or related field or
extensive
experience.
Minimum experience 5-10 years in development projects in the Third World
preferably in the Arab World
Job experience related to capacity building within long term programmes:
strategy, planning, management , follow up , etc.
Experience in WEEA related sectors: training, media, community development,
legal aspects , income generating projects for women.
Experience in women issues through rural and urban projects
Communication skills
Advocacy and lobbying experience.
Administrative and financial experience
Human resources experience: team work, etc.
Computer skills & Ability to travel inside Yemen

Yemen: WEEA Women 's Economic Empowerment Association

The WEEA: Women's Economic Empowerment Association was officially
established
as an non governmental organization in May 26th. 1999, with its head office
in
Sana'a, Yemen. The creation of WEEA comes after a long process whereby
funded
activities led to a collective decision to
become a non-governmental organization. WEEA is a sister organization of
SEWA
India and also the focal point of GLIP:

Gender Linkage Information Project based in Beirut. It has a membership with
IAFFE International Association for Feminists Economics. At the present time
WEEA is also establishing sub-sections in Yemen.

The present Dutch funded project started on November 2001 and will run until
October 2004.

All the following WEEA departments: Research, Communications, Training,
Community Development, Saving & Credit , legal advisor services will
contribute to the economic empowerment of poor rural, urban, literate and
illiterate women. Within a gender/economy framework , WEEA is
working at the policy level, provides services, facilitates income
generating
projects, networks at the community level and with related institutions,
other
national and international NGOS .
