That would be Windows API:

        SendMessage(hwnd, WM_SETICON, ICON_SMALL, (LPARAM)hIcon);

It can be changed on the fly as the users flip the multi-user chat tabs or peer 
status changes.

Which API are you talking about?

And this icon is hard to keep in sync when this windows have several tabs 
opened with different contacts in different statuses ...
