Now I am trying to change some of these terms using the override
function file : galette_fr_FR.utf8_local_lang.php
With the following line in that file : $lang["Active member"] =
'Adhérent actif';
I get this as output: Adh�rent actif
Any suggestions ?

Yes, "membre" and "adhérent" are synonyms in French. This is a little
mistake, only "adhérent" should have been used.
I'm pretty sure this is not the only word that does not have a
consistent translation ;)
