Hi, Damien. It is true someone always needs to start somewhere, but I personally don't have a very high opinion of VB. Especially, VB 6 and earlier. VB 6 is really ancient technology now, and it's object oriented design features sucks eggs. You mentioned an interest in learning C++. It has a bit more learning curve to it, but the pay off is big in the end. Another language I have become very fond of C#, called c-sharp, is a nice language for quickly writing games. It is not as hard as C++ to learn, and the ability of the .net framework gives you allot of predefined classes to work with to rapidly put your games together.
