So if I understand this correctly: a mud client is the same as a z code
file interpreter. Just as the interactive fiction interpreters
interpret z code files, mud clients does the same with online text
adventures. Is dungins and dragons also a mud?

Hi.
You need a mud client which you point at your favorite mudding site, and

then play. They are usually pretty speech friendly, and are all text
based.
