On TV or radio you can't hear any football sounds. Rather give me the
sounds, I mean, if we don't have the sounds as feedback, we can't really
play the game! Jack, it looks as you're interested in American football? You
may be interested in reading an article I wrote a long time ago in one of
the back issues of Audyssey on how I thought an accessible American football
game could be made. (they were just thoughts, and I don't even know how
possible they were, but I was actually a bit disappointed that a games
developer didn't look into it, or maybe it's not possible or such a good
idea). I like football instead, but I wish someone could think up a solution
to get a very accessible version out their. I know we have Super Football,
but that's more a type of board game, you can't run, their's no crowds,
teams, leagues, etc. Since it's a more of a world thing, I think that
suggesting it to Code Factory, RNIB, or one of those huge organisations
would be good. I actually think that it's sad that large organisations for
the blind aren't developing new board games, or, better still, they should
look at the possibility of making electronic or accessible computer games.
I'm not trying to take anything away from our community of developers, but
since a place like RNIB receives funding, and since it's a brand in the
blind world, it could ask huge game companies to jump on board and help. One
thing I was wondering was, for example, a company like Microsoft, who
actually have their own departments for accessibility. If a person could
somehow persuade them to put speech in their Flight Simulators, really
advanced speech giving really precise details, we could play it.
