Hi David,
Actually, there are three different types of phasers in the Trek game.
Older classes such as the Excelsior-Class Explorer have a type 8 phaser
which only does about half the damage of the type 10. The newer classes
like the Sovereign-Class and Intrepid-Class carry the type 10 which does
double the damage of the type 8. Then, you have the type pulse phaser
which doesn't have the range of the 8 and 10, but does considerably more
damage in combat.
As for the cloak the Defiant has it, and that is why I listed stealth as
a specialty. Perhaps I should reword from stealth to can cloak, or
something like that.
As far as pointing out hard core shield power I do think Phil was right
in saying that comparing specific stats like that could get confusing
for non-techy types who want to only know if it is good or not. For
example a shield rating of 2202 and 2302 are both pretty good and we are
only talking 100 units of power. Not much of an advantage in a fight
except it might ward off one extra disruptor shot.
In that way I can just say they are both better than average or above
average and be done with it.
Smile.
