Montezuma's Revenge News Dec. 11, 2006
Hi all, With STFC 1.0 now released we have had more time to work directly on Montezuma's Revenge. As many of you know we released a trailer sometime last week which showed off a bit of Montezuma's Revenge Alpha 2. As it happens there have been many new changes in the works since that time, and there is many exciting changes going in to Monty Alpha 2. As of today Monday Dec. 11, 2006 we have started on a major upgrade of the Monty engine core. Many of the planned changes include the ability to map keyboards, joysticks, and mice via the options menu, which will give the end user greater control over his or her favorite input device and default layout. In addition In Alpha 1 the only input device available was the keyboard. In Alpha 2 we have added Joystick and mice support to the game. Although quite buggy and untested so far this will allow everyone a chance to use his or her favorite input device. The options menu now offers the player the ability to adjust the speech rate and volume. While not highly requested all USA Games products will have this built in ability via the USAGames.Engine.dll library which we have been working on to power our games. As if those changes were not enough Arizona Smith must face several new deadly traps including quicksand, leap over rows of deadly spikes, and more... Another change recently made the metal ladders have been replaced by stone staircases, and ropes have been replaced with vines. The effect makes the temples feel a bit more realistic as well as spookier. As for when exactly we will be able to post a demo of the changes that is impossible to say. The upgrade we are working on now will take quite a long time to complete, but once done we should be able to work directly on adding more levels, and getting the game ready to release. _______________________________________________ Gamers mailing list ..
