When you sign up for the chess for beginners correspondence from
www.hadley.edu
you get the course material in the format of your choice along with a book
of raised illustrations to work with as you progress through the lessons.
You also get a chess set that has been adapted for use by blind players. I
highly recommend the courses from Hadley. The instructor is patient and
knowledgeable.

The hadley School offers two free chess courses, along with learning
material in various formats and a adapted chess set as well. Also there
are two websites which have chess voice chatrooms. The first is

It's Friday at 4:00 pm EST. The second site is
http://www.out-of-sight.net
There are also some accessible computer versions of chess such as Kchess,
BG chess challenge and a few others.
