Teresa, Second life is graphics and audio normally, and this textsl project looks like a research project to try to describe the second life world in a way that makes sense for screen readers.
However, if you're just looking for virtual worlds to explore and checkout, there's a lot of them built purely on text and that will be better optimized to work with readers. From MUSHes to MUCKs to MUDs, there's dozens of high quality worlds out there. The one I'm associated with is called Alter Aeon, and it has an incredibly large world to explore and do things in.
