Hi Josh, Well, I can say Visual Studio hasn't improved any since 2012 has come out. If anything it is worse than ever, and Visual Studio Express 2012 is all but inaccessible to a screen reader. At least as far as NVDA is concerned so I've been looking at alternatives too.
For example, for a while now rather than developing my .NET applications in Microsoft Visual C# .NET and Microsoft Visual Basic .NET I've been using the open source IDE, Monodevelop, with the Mono runtime to develop and compile .NET 4.0 applications for Linux and Windows. I don't see any need to upgrade and continue using Microsoft's Visual Studio IDE, because it seems to get less and less accessible with every version. The Eclipse IDE seems to be a nice cross-platform IDE for Java and C++ so I don't really have much need for Visual C++ either these days. Even Codeblocks on the Windows side is better than Visual C++ 2012. So I think open source is a better deal all around when it comes to IDEs and tools for Windows. Generally speaking, though, I enjoy using Xcode.
