Hi Jim,

Don't feel too bad. A lot of interactive fiction is heavily puzzle
oriented and you wouldn't be the first person to get stumped by a
complex puzzle.  I've gotten stumped more than my share of times and
had to look up a cheat or find a walkthrough to get passed a certain
puzzle.
