I don't remember Harry ruining roses, but if he did it wasn't on purpose. 
Granted there was a maze of hedges in the fourth book, which Harry had to 
find his way through, but I don't think they were roses. In fact 
Harry---well I better not say anymore for those who never have read the 
books but want to. Let's just say the last thing Harry would want would be 
to see evil triumph over good.
