Hi Ron: Well, I don't really know what to tell you given that I have been doing some research into this issue myself, and to tell the truth there really is not a whole lot to choose from out there right now. I am currently running a laptop with a 64-bit copy of Windows 8.1, and compatible controllers is just about nil.
The problem is that game pads for the PC are rapidly becoming scarce, and many manufacturers simply aren't writing new updated drivers for their hardware. Microsoft Windows provides some basic generic drivers for a wide range of Logitech, Philips, and other older game pads but they do not support advanced features such as force feedback and certain other things like that. So the end result is if you have or want to use many older 32-bit controllers you will have to forget about force feedback support etc and use the generic Microsoft driver on 64-bit Windows. >From what I have read the only game pads that frequently are getting updated drivers are the wireless Microsoft Xbox 360 controllers which makes sense. I have asked several mainstream gamers on various sites and they consistently tell me if you or I want to use a game pad under 64-bit Windows with force feedback support we need to invest in a XBox 360 controller and a wireless PC adapter. Other than that finding a good controller that works on 64-bit Windows is slim to none. So once I am more financially stable I will most likely be investing in a XBox controller and a wireless PC adapter for gaming. Cheers!
