Well I always imagined the grue eating other people, not people eating
it,
that seems rather twisted to me :D.
Actually for the record, grue has another meaning besides the infocom
monster as well. It is the name of a rather famous problem in metaphysics
called the grue problem about the persistance of properties.
Basically, that objects we think of as being green or blue could in fact
be coloured grue, a colour which appears to all our perceptions and has a
history of being green but is actually blue.
Still I prefer the idea that the grue is what eats you when you go into a
dark place without a torch or a match:
Beware the grue! he'll make a meal of you,
He'll bite your thighs, suck out your eyes and on your bones he'll chew!
He'll use your skin to keep things in and use your blood as glue! he'll
eat you most completely, so look out for the grue!
Beware the grue! He'll make you into stew, he'll roast your brains with
mustard granes and make a meal of you,
He'll fry your knees in chedder cheese and have you for fondu,
He's learning chinese cookery! so look out for the grue!
Beware the grue! he isn't red or blue! he isn't green or tanjareen or
yellow or maroon! since anyone who's met him ends up on the grue's menue,
we don't know what he looks like, but look out for the grue!
