Hi.
You need to crouch when he swings at you and you hear him making an ook oook
monkey type noise, then when you hear him land turn to whatever direction
he's in and shoot him (it doesn't matter if your crouched or not).
Hth.
The manual always described wild bot as one of the hardest bosses in the
game but I never found him that tough, indeed for me the lava and water
escape levels were harder than any of the bosses.
