Hi Dark, Well, the reason is that Microsoft rewrote its audio mixer in Windows 7/Windows 8 which needed to be done, but it broke compatibility with its older technologies like DirectSound. The problem is because DirectSound was dropped back in 2008 they chose not to update and fix it. Instead MS gave the excuse if game developers wanted restored functionality they had to use XAudio2 or some other alternative technology that supports the new mixer which does nothing for developers like GMA who wrote their games around DirectSound and VB 6 that are no longer compatible with the new mixer.
