Sorry missed this topic.
Deathnell is actually lots of fun, and from Eleanor's description you
probably missed that it also has extensive sound, music and ambience
including live voice acted tips from Inspector cindy a detective from
vienna who is an expert on the new scientific deductive methods and will not
hesistate to tell you just what she thinks of you if you don't measure up to
her high standards.
It also works differently from say a standard gamebook or choose your own
adventure game sinse you get the clues in the story, and then have to put
them together into an actual solution page, rather than just by going from
scene to scene in a linnier manner giving you a lot of choice of how you
progress in the game.
My only real cryticism is that like any mystery story, you really can only
play through the thing once as a game. You can experience the ambience,
music sound etc a second time but effectively then your watching a film or
reading a book rather than playing a game, and while say some standard
gamebooks have alternative endings or at least alternate methods of
progressing through the story, in the inspector cindy games while you can
interview the witnesses or ask what questions you want and are free to go
through things any way you wish, the ultimate conclusion and the information
you will find will end up being the same.
So yes, the game is well worth it and will provide a good bit of fun, but
don't expect a game which you will replay many times, indeed I've only ever
played deathnell twice myself for the stated reasons, for all I definitely
enjoyed what I got.
Beware the Grue!
Dark.

Subject: [Audyssey] Death Nell
Hi Ishan
The Mystery game, Death Nell is one of seven accessible mysteries
produced by 7-128 Software. You can purchase the game, either as a
stand-alone game for $10.00, or as part of a game book with 4 other games
for $25.00.
The Inspector Cyndi series is set in Newport RI during the gilded era.
Some of the same characters are present in several of the games. You are
a detective, trying to solve the mystery. You question witnesses and
figure out the culprit, the motive, method and the opportunity.
These games are self-voiced using the SAPI voice on your computer. They
have some graphics so sighted people also can enjoy the games.
To purchase these games go to www.7128.com and select the GAMES button.
That will take you to the page where you can read about each of our games
and can purchase and download the game.
