I do know exactly what you mean. I do not disagree with you in the slightest. However, I do like these sorts of games. Games like this and Galactic empires, are pretty unique. In as much as that they are persistent and no reset required. I hate games that reset! But to see a proper space game, with proper elements of empire building and exploration, would be very good indeed.
I think half the problem with the game such as this, is the coding aspect. The sort of game with the level of complexity at the likes of you and I would like to see, would probably be a complete nightmare to code. That's not to say you can't be done or shouldn't be done.
